EMSculpt NEO is the only non-invasive body contouring device that simultaneously deploys two energy modalities to address two tissue types in a single session. Radiofrequency (RF) energy heats subcutaneous fat to 43-44 degrees Celsius, triggering apoptosis, irreversible programmed cell death. Over the following weeks, the body's lymphatic system permanently eliminates these destroyed fat cells. They do not regenerate.

Concurrently, High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy drives the targeted muscles through 20,000+ supramaximal contractions per session, contractions at an intensity and recruitment level impossible through voluntary exercise. The experience

What a EMSculpt NEO session actually feels like

You lie on the treatment bed and one or two applicators are strapped over the area, for the abdomen that is two paddles side by side. The first thing you notice is a deep, even warmth as the radiofrequency brings the fat layer up to the temperature at which fat cells break down. Patients compare it to a hot stone rather than a burn.

At the same time the muscle starts contracting. The device cycles through short rapid pulses, long held contractions, and a tapping pattern that clears lactic acid. The contractions are far stronger than anything you could do on purpose, and patients describe them as an extreme sit-up their muscles are doing without them. It is intense, not painful, and the intensity is set to your tolerance and raised as you adapt.

Thirty minutes later the applicators come off and you stand up with the trembly, worked feeling of a hard session at the gym, localised to the treated area. No marks, no swelling, nothing to hide. Soreness for one to three days is normal. You go back to work, the gym, or dinner.

Good candidates

  • You are at or near a stable weight, roughly within 30 pounds of your goal, and have a specific area that will not respond to diet or exercise: lower belly, flanks, a postpartum midsection, arms, glutes or thighs.
  • You already train or stay active and want the last stubborn layer reduced and the muscle underneath rebuilt.
  • You are three to six months postpartum, cleared by your own obstetric provider, and the bulge is abdominal separation rather than fat.

Not yet

  • You have a large amount of weight to lose. Lose it first through nutrition and activity, then sculpt what remains stubborn. The reverse order wastes the treatment and your money.
  • You are inside the first three months after delivery, or still breastfeeding and have not discussed timing with your obstetric provider.

Ruled out, or needs clearance

  • A pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or neurostimulator. The electromagnetic field can interfere with the device and this is not a risk to accept for an elective treatment.
  • Metal implants in or near the treatment area: joint replacements, plates, screws, rods, surgical clips, and some intrauterine devices depending on material and position. Raise every implant, including ones you consider old.
  • Pregnancy.
  • An active hernia at the treatment site, recent surgery in the area, active malignancy, seizure or bleeding disorders, anticoagulant therapy, significant cardiac or pulmonary disease, or uncontrolled diabetes need your treating physician's clearance first.
  • A goal the device cannot meet: loose or excess skin, cellulite, visceral fat around the organs, or general weight loss. We will say so at the consultation rather than take the booking.

Four sessions per treatment area, spaced five to ten days apart. That is the protocol the published results were measured on. Treating a second area is a second four-session course. A lean patient chasing a little definition sometimes needs fewer; nobody should be sold a fourth session after peaking at the second. Dr. Bromberg sets the number at the consultation, not from a package.

About 30 minutes per area, and none. You can come at lunch and go back to the office, drive yourself, and train the same day if you want to. The treated muscle feels worked for one to three days, the way it does after a hard workout.

No. You feel deep warmth from the radiofrequency and strong rhythmic contractions from the electromagnetic field. The intensity is set to your tolerance and raised gradually. Most patients read, scroll, or talk through it.

Not after the first session, and that is expected. The first signs, usually a firmer midsection or clothes fitting differently, appear two to four weeks in.
