Menopause brings hormonal changes that weaken pelvic floor muscles — leading to bladder leakage, urgency, and reduced pelvic support. These changes are normal, but they don't have to define your quality of life. Emsella can help restore strength and control.
During treatment, you sit fully clothed on the Emsella chair. The device uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to stimulate deep pelvic floor muscles with thousands of supramaximal contractions per session. These contractions re-educate and strengthen weakened pelvic floor muscles, restoring neuromuscular control. Unlike voluntary kegel exercises — which only activate a subset of pelvic floor muscles — Emsella engages the entire pelvic floor musculature comprehensively.
Meet with Dr. Bromberg's team. We assess your goals, medical history, and determine if Emsella is right for you.
Sit comfortably on the Emsella chair — fully clothed. 28 minutes of electromagnetic pelvic floor stimulation.
Zero downtime. Return to all normal activities immediately. Some patients describe mild soreness like after a good workout.
Most patients notice improvement within 2-3 sessions. Optimal results after the full 6-session protocol.
Menopause creates a specific and compounding challenge for pelvic floor health. Declining estrogen levels directly affect three tissue systems simultaneously: the skeletal muscle fibers of the pelvic floor lose mass and contractile strength (sarcopenia), the connective tissue (fascia and ligaments) that suspends the pelvic organs loses elasticity and structural integrity, and the mucosal tissues of the vagina and urethra thin and become less resilient. These changes are progressive — without intervention, they accelerate through perimenopause and continue post-menopause, leading to worsening incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse symptoms, and reduced quality of life. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can slow these changes by restoring some estrogenic support to the tissues, but HRT does not rebuild lost muscle mass. It stabilizes the hormonal environment; it does not reverse the muscular atrophy that has already occurred. Emsella provides the complementary intervention that HRT cannot: direct muscular rehabilitation independent of hormonal status. The HIFEM electromagnetic field acts on the skeletal muscle fibers of the pelvic floor through direct motor neuron stimulation — a mechanism that does not require estrogen to function. Muscle fibers respond to mechanical overload regardless of the hormonal environment. The supramaximal contractions force pelvic floor fibers through hypertrophic adaptation, rebuilding the muscular mass and contractile strength that menopause has degraded. This is clinically significant because it means Emsella is effective for menopausal patients whether or not they are on HRT. For patients using HRT, Emsella adds the muscular rehabilitation that hormones alone cannot provide. For patients who cannot or choose not to use HRT, Emsella offers a non-hormonal pathway to pelvic floor restoration. In either case, the rebuilt muscular foundation improves continence, enhances pelvic support, and restores functional capacity that hormonal changes had compromised.
Clinical Data Point
Studies in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women demonstrate significant improvements in pelvic floor strength, continence, and quality of life scores, with results independent of HRT usage status.

We operate as a medical practice with clinical standards. Most Boston-area EMSculpt providers are aesthetician-led med spas. That distinction matters for your safety and results.
Emsella is FDA-cleared with published research demonstrating 95% patient satisfaction for urinary incontinence treatment.
No undressing, no invasive procedures. You sit on the Emsella chair fully clothed for the entire 28-minute session. It's that simple.
Combine Emsella with EMSculpt NEO for the complete Core-to-Floor protocol — strengthening both your abs and your pelvic floor in one treatment plan.
Emsella is FDA-cleared for both men and women. We treat post-prostate surgery incontinence, postpartum pelvic floor weakness, and age-related pelvic health.

Declining estrogen levels during menopause cause pelvic floor muscles and tissue to lose tone and elasticity, reducing bladder support and control.
Yes. By strengthening the pelvic floor muscles regardless of hormonal status, Emsella helps restore the muscular support that declining estrogen has weakened.
Yes. Emsella is compatible with hormone replacement therapy and other menopause treatments.
Absolutely. Pelvic health treatments are increasingly sought by women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. There's no age limit for wanting better quality of life.
Emsella delivers 11,000 supramaximal contractions per session — far exceeding what's possible through PT exercises alone. It can complement and accelerate physical therapy outcomes.
